The second live show of F4Wt's Collecting Pl4ces project.

Akira Sileas is an experimental composer who works primarily with electronic instruments. Their work is highly conceptual and is often informed by imagery such as landscapes or artworks, or derived from algorithmic processes. Performance, expressivity, and gesture are fundamental aspects of their approach to playing electronic instruments and developing generative digital environments.

Forward 4 Wiz Trust’s ground-breaking project Collecting Pl4ces celebrates landmarks of cultural heritage in Rushmoor, by showcasing space-specific works written and recorded from the acoustic mapping of locations that build a catalogue of the sociocultural history of the borough.

Maida Gymnasium, originally known as the Command Central Gymnasium, was purpose built in 1892 as an army drill hall/gymnasium by Martin Wells & Co, forming part of the larger Maida Barracks in Montgomery lines. The building was constructed as part of a national programme following a War Office decision that the physical aspect of a soldiers education was to be improved through gymnastics, extending activity beyond just drill and weapon training.
